During the launch of Apple iPad 2, Steve Jobs said 2011 would be the best ever year for the iPad and Apple and 2012 and beyond would be a challenge to keep up in the tablet market.
Apple dominates the tablet market in 2010, When iPad 1 was launched and more than 15 million iPad’s were sold. Steve Jobs during the launch of
iPad 2 said” iPad’s sales are ‘more than every Tablet PC ever sold’”. He taunted competitors and said “competitors flummoxed”.
Tablet competition still scattered
Apple is making progress with the help of its cost-effective supply chain and availability of iPad parts in bulk which makes Apple steps ahead in Sales.
More than 100 of Tablet PC’s are coming in market but no one has build up that kind of buying power which Apple has successfully build.
High Performance with Low Price Tag
As iPad 2 is considerably better than its predecessor. The new iPad has a dual-core Apple A5 processor which makes the graphics and processing power of iPad 2 nine times better. The iPad 2 is configures with two cameras, latest iOS 4.3 software, slimmer design and loosing the weight from 1.5 pounds to 1.3 pounds.
The price tag remains the same $499 with black and white colours.
“Steve Jobs closed the event saying” It's in Apple's DNA that technology alone is not enough,” he said. “It's technology married with liberal arts, married with humanities.” This is Apple’s secret sauce.”
Apple can’t be leader anymore
Now days Analysts divide the Table PC market into two groups.
One group probably – Motorola, Samsung and BlackBerry makers which hunt Apple towards it performance and design.
The other group – probably consisting of Acer and Asus that fight for price to gain market share. Their products may not be as powerful like iPad but surely they have half the price.
Apple market share will go downward in the coming year due to the rivals in Table PC market but its iPad sale will almost remains the same.
